Metropolitan Housing Trust London welcomes the new Government’s focus on tenant mobility and actively provides tenant mobility opportunities for our tenants.

We are members of:

  • House Exchange and Home Swapper mutual exchange schemes
  • LAWN, where tenants wish to move out of London
  • Seaside & Country Homes.

MHT London also:

  • operates a transfer waiting list
  • offers Choice Based Lettings schemes in partner Local Authorities where these schemes are offered
  • are the Common Housing Register Partners in Broxbourne and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
  • works with partner Local Authorities where under-occupation incentive schemes are offered
  • have our own under-occupation incentive scheme.

As part of MHP, MHT London in 2008 participated in joint research with seven other housing associations to explore the feasibility of establishing a national tenant mobility schemes. The report, entitled Mobility Matters, made a number of practical recommendations to the Government and the housing sector on how such a scheme could work.
