Contractors

We use a number of contractors to deliver some of our front line repairs and maintenance services. When selecting contractors, we ensure that residents are consulted and involved in the selection process until the service is implemented. We use contractors for the following services:

Responsive Repairs

In October 2008, Mears Plc began working with MHT London for a five-year period to deliver our responsive repairs service which includes all of the basic plumbing, electrical and carpentry jobs.

There are number of new tools we have introduced to deliver this service more effectively. These include:

  • mobile text messaging which has been introduced to confirm appointment times 24 hours before the contractor is due to complete the job. Our customers can now receive a call before the appointment time to confirm that our contractors are on their way.
  • We now have a new web-based work scheduling and appointment system – enabling you to book more convenient appointment times.

 

Gas servicing and repairs

We are currently in the process of selecting a new contractor to deliver our repairs and servicing of gas central heating systems. This contract is being re-tendered and we hope to have our new contractors in place for 1 October 2010.  Residents have been consulted and some are involved in the selection process. Cyclical and planned programme

We have a number of contractors that deliver our cyclical maintenance programme which includes the maintenance and refurbishment of external areas and internal communal areas over a five year cycle. To find out when your cyclical works are due visit our planned maintenance section.

Estate and grounds maintenance

From April 2010, Pinnacle plc will be delivering our estate services and grounds maintenance contract which includes ensuring estates are clean and well maintained.

Lift maintenance

In October 2008, Rubax were appointed to undertake the lift maintenance and service contract.

Anyone that works on our behalf will be required to:

introduce themselves and show identification, before entering your home

be polite at all times

use dust sheets and protective covers where necessary to protect your possessions

clear up after themselves.
